A one-day workshop for the core group members was organized as part of the Carbon Neutral Goshree Project being implemented in Gram Panchayats of Kochi Gosree Islands under the joint auspices of Haritha Keralam Mission and JIDA (Gosree Islands Development Authority). Edappally block panchayat president Saritha Sanil inaugurated the meeting presided over by Kuzhupilly village panchayat president KS Nibin. Vypin Block Panchayat President Tulasi Soman gave the keynote speech, JDA Secretary Raghuraman Navakeralam Karma Padhathi and Haritha Keralam Mission District Coordinator Ranjini S and Haritha Kerala Mission Resource Person Devarajan MK spoke at the meeting.
Haritha Keralam Mission Agriculture Sub-Mission Assistant Coordinator S.U.Sanjeev presented the theme about the Net Zero Carbon Approach. Haritha Keralam Mission State Program Officer V. Rajendran Nair and Young Professional Surya took classes is the workshop on various topics. Goshree Islands comprise of 8 village panchayats like Kuzhuppilly, Pallipuram, Edavanakkad, Nairambalam, Ilangunnapuzha, Mulavukad, Kadamakudy, Njarakkal.
The aim of the project is to undertake and implement net zero carbon activities with mass participation by planning activities without affecting people's livelihood and income. The Goshree project also has the uniqueness of implementing the project in a certain area.
The primary task of the project is to limit the emission of greenhouse gases to a level that the atmosphere can bear. As part of the project, activities will be organized by intervening in various sectors such as waste management, agriculture, energy conservation, water conservation, forestry and transport.
