Net Zero Carbon Kerala campaign extends to Goshree Islands
Workshop scheduled on Saturday (27-07-2024) to core group members and block- panchayat level representatives
As part of environmental restoration activities, the Net Zero Carbon Kerala campaign being implemented in the state by Haritha Keralam Mission is being extended to Kochi Goshree Islands .The campaign activities are being coordinated in all the eight grama panchayats of the islands under the leadership of Goshree Islands Development Authority GIDA. Campaign activities are implemented at the practical level under the leadership of local self-government bodies. Key among these are actions to balance greenhouse gas emissions and carbon sequestration. Apart from this, projects based on fallowless lands, Harita Samriddhi Ward, Green islets, scientific waste management, water conservation etc. will be implemented in Goshree Islands under the leadership of local self-governing bodies.
As part of the campaign, separate workshops will be organized on Saturday 27/07/2024 for Core Group members and Block-Grama Panchayat level representatives. Vypin Block Panchayat President Tulasi Soman will inaugurate the workshop at Vypin Block Panchayat Hall-1, Ernakulam.
GIDA Secretary Raghuram, KUFOS Director Dr. Muhammad Hatha, Haritha Kerala Mission Agriculture Sub-Mission Assistant Coordinator S.U. Sanjeev, Program Officers Rajendran Nair V., Suresh U., Project Coordinator Liji George, Young Professional Surya SB, Navkeralam Karmapaddhathi Ernakulam District Coordinator Ranjini S. etc. will conduct classes on various topics in the workshop. Edappally Block Panchayat President Saritha Sanal will be the chief guest. Efforts are being made worldwide to gradually reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero carbon in the face of worsening climate change. The campaign of Haritha Keralam Mission is progressing under the leadership of local self-governing bodies in Kerala so that this goal can be achieved by 2050.
